Paxton sits hidden under rock and kelp, the seaweed GROWING around his right troublesome and almost ticklish at times. He doesn't like it. It bunched up inside his helmet and makes for even more uncomfortable watches when he's trying to push back weird jellyfish monster's or Rocket's lackeys. [break][break]

Taking a break from his scouting duties, as the operations progressed, he waited to hear in from other groups. Mostly, waiting to coordinate his own movements. He could only do so much alone, but his skills excelled when supporting a team. [break][break]

A little Durant sits with him keeping watch before perking up hearing movement. It's about to lunge out but his master stops him. "Shh, I'm expecting another ranger, remember?" he murmured, voice low as he put back on the helmet. Better safe than sorry. [break][break]

Gently, he opens his comms, listening as different people field their locations. Some more urgent than others, but nobody requesting assistance yet. He tried to contact his lead directly. "Cassidy to Zorro, are you nearing my position? Over."

He has notes of troop movements, locations of front and back lines, and estimates of enemy supply storage, all scrawled in code.

He’s been a busy guy.

His Durant settled by his feet, and Paxton remained crouched as the ranger came closer. Slowly, when he's sure he can get in eye sight with out alarming him, he stands up and gives a small wave. As an added gesture, he pulled off the black helmet protecting his skull, scuffed up as it may be, revealing sweaty pink hair, and a bit of kelp growing around his right eye like a monocle. "Are you hurt?" he asked, giving Fox a good once over. His rifle shouldered across his back as the Durant at his side chittered softly in greeting at the newcomers. "Here, I found a shallow cave we can talk in for the time being." he said nodding behind him through a big of floating kelp towards the rock walls.

[attr="class","samknoxw"]Fox drops to the furthest point and relishes the feeling of solid-ish ground beneath his feet again. All this broken-gravity free-falling has a way of shaking up your stomach.

He regards the captain with a curt nod. “No, I’m well, thank you. And yourself?” Pulling the straps of his pack, he swings it over one shoulder to prepare to unzip, in case Captain Concordas needs anything.

The kelp ears a raised eyebrow. Fox doesn’t show fear readily, but anything in this bizarre place that hints at it truly being a sea makes him… uneasy.

“There aren’t any Nihilego in this cave, are there?” he asks, tone half-joking, half-serious.

"Sore, ears ringing." he said. Truthfully, he was recovering from the emotional match that had been him and Ashley Shepard . The man had crawled into a hole until he could get himself together. He couldn't afford to go after every Rocket like he had with them Especially not after taking some hits of his own from the one that'd rescued him (jayden cross ). [break][break]

"I've alreayd done my first aid though. I'll be fine." he said before murmuring a quick, "Thank you though." The pinkette shook his head in response. "I curled up in the back myself for a spell. It's clear of UB-01." [break][break]

He's not all too familiar with Fox, having seen them at the ranger meetings sure but they didn't work together, until now. And he found their ability as a scout quite valuable. He wondered if he could make them a good shot, and then remembered he couldn't translate well years of muscle memory. "What've we got? Anybody need help urgently?"

“I’ve had altercations with high ranking Rockets Alexandra Briarwood and Tempest Quinn. It seems they’re really not pulling any punches.” His voice is a dull sort of droll that suggests an understated joke.

“I’ve found and assisted Elinor Anderson and Laurence Anderson. Everyone else seems to be holding their own in their sectors. No large scale SOS calls or requests for aid on the hidden radio frequencies. At least, not ours.”

He takes a second to look over his shoulder and stare out at the abyss.

“It’s a big place. I’m afraid everyone is being swallowed whole.”

"Our high profile thief, and an ex gym leader." Paxton offered, nodding as he remembered their profiles comes through his desk once the public list of wanted Rockets had updated. "I would've thought all of their firepower would be wherever the SEAL is hiding." he added with a small shrug. "You look good for going toe to toe with them. Most might leave a blood trail." he said before Fox moved on. [break][break]

"Good, I'm sure our Head Ranger is always happy to see a Ranger come to his aid. Same with Councilwoman Anderson." he said with a small nod. "I've been waiting to see if any egg heads decipher the radio comms on Rocket's end, but its unclear if they're even working in coordination with each other or just set aside groups and let them fend for themselves." [break][break]

The strange comment has the man pensive. He idly runs a hand through his hair, pulling off a loose hair tie to tighten it back down before he had to throw on the helmet again. "Ultra Sea is as vast as it is corrosive. We run solo as a necessity but...it still feels like the place can have too much influence after too long an exposure." Not to mention the strange reports from the expeditions here or aliens and Ultra Beasts controlling their corpses. He can't help a shudder at the thought.

He trails a hand through the kelp, frowning.

“I hate it here.” Another admission. It wasn’t his first time in this place and it wouldn’t be the last. He gives a dry chuckle as he stares down the repetitive barrel of his own chosen profession.

He slides a small recording device out from his pocket and passes it to Paxton.

“Here’s my encrypted intel dump. I’ve got to get back out there.” He gives the captain a nod and is gone, a shadow in the night.

"We can mourn them when we leave." Paxton returned, a small offer for comfort to the ranger. The next admission makes him smile, snorting a little and nodding. "I can say its one of the shittier places I've had to fight in." Not by much, but...still ass. [break][break]

Fox palms him the device and Paxton is careful to put it somewhere safe and padded. "Good luck. I'll make sure to bring this back asap." he said, taking a moment to hold the man's eyes silently wishing him good luck before the scout is off. Paxton is quiet, taking another moment to sit in the stillness of Ultra Sea before swallowing and getting back up. He puts back on the helmet and began heading back to the rifts.
